I have a Pom and a Yorkie and they do just fine going out. I have seen many say their small breeds hate the cold...mine don't seem to mind, although the Yorkie usually moves quicker when it is this cold.
Mine actually like to play in the snow and I have to beg them to come in at times I guess all and all it depends on the dog...you could put a sweater on them.

Looks like there aren't any dog parks in Appleton. In addition to those listed in GB, there is also one in Oshkosh.

She does ok. She'll go outside and go pee right away. Pooping seems to be another issue if she doesn't have to go right away. A cold days like today, -teens, I get a little worried about her being out there for a long time because of the whole cracked paws issue. So I bring her in when she starts raising her legs from the snow. Then 10 minutes later I'll take her back out and she does her deed.

I wouldn't worry to much about the dog being cold. We have a Terrier and he does fine outside. Usually if it's cold and the dog has to go they'll run outside without playing and make it back to the door before you even know it.

We have a beagle. She has learned to go to the bathroom fast in this weather.

LOL, we have a "Pom", he usually has no problem going potty, when it's really cold, like now (-20) he goes but makes it short and quick. But poms are cold weather dogs, otherwise zero or anything above doesn't bother him. He'll go out roll in the snow, find a nice piece of ice to lay on.
My daughter came up here from Dallas for Christmas, she brought her chihuahua(Daisy) along. The first couple of days we had a hard time getting her to go out. She would walk out the door, turn around and try to come back in immediately. To heck with going potty!! By the third day Daisy finally got used to the snow and cold, after that she had no problem.

Guess I'm going to finally get to put them in little coats and such lol
Its just so hard when your in another state to find a place to rent.

My fiancee and I have two small dogs a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Rat Terrier, and had a month to find a new apt to rent, in the same town we were living here Hartford. We found a great place, however it was more difficult, a lot of places would take 1 dog, but not two, we found this place in two weeks which wasn't bad. Depending on where you want to live, I know my landlord, owns 5 or 6 duplex's in the area and we can have pets here. If you are interested send me a private message and I will give you his information. Although Hartford, is not the most exciting place you can live (45 minutes from Milwaukee and 1 hour from Madison).
As far as the cold it is -10 out right now...they don't like it, they do their business outside fast and are ready to come in. I think their paws are what is affected most by the cold, their are some apparent remedy's that I haven't tried yet. 1) masking tape on their paws because it comes off easily 2) Mush wax, to help coat them.
Hope this helps!
