Menasha is sandwiched between Neenah and Appleton. They all pretty much bleed together as one continuous urban area.
Appleton has a craigslist page but hardly anyone uses it. That would be a place to start looking for houses. The Historic Fox River Mills and the brand new River Heath development are really nice condos in/near downtown Appleton and both have websites. Otherwise ValleyByOwner, Yahoo! Real Estate, Coldwell Banker, and Century21 would also be places to check out. For $100,000 you could live in a truly nice house in Appleton. For $400,00 you could live in a three-storey Victorian mansion near Lawrence University. I imagine you would pay much more in South Florida for something comparable.

Oh yeah you would. Thats a big reason we are ready to leave the cost of living. It burns me up to be paying so much for so little. knowing someplace else it would be so much more. Then you add in the rest that we dont like

The Fox Valley is a really nice area, I grew up in Menasha. I really appreciate the area a lot more now having lived elsewhere for the last 4-5 years. Having said that, Menasha and Grand Chute are probably the least desirable cities in the Fox Cities. Menasha is very blue collar and because it is between Neenah and Appleton it doesn't really attempt to develop much in the way of retail, employment, or entertainment. Grand Chute is borderline rural even though it is where the Fox River Mall is located. Not much in the way of housing other than cheap apartment complexes or old ranch houses. IMHO Appleton (Large), Neenah (Medium), and Kimberly (Small) are the nicest cities around.

I agree with this for the most part. Menasha is still nice; it's just an older area. The city and some of its residents just need to update some of the buildings and homes. About Grand Chute, there are some really nice neighborhoods there. And, add Greenville and especially Darboy to the nicest cities list. Darboy is growing fast and is my favorite city in the Fox Cities area.

Thank you all so much for your input and help.
Now I have a list of places being specific to start looking.

No offense, but I despise both Greenville and Darboy because they are both so suburban. That's why I like Kimberly, Appleton, Neenah, and I'll add Combined Locks to the list too, because they are real cities with sidewalks, parks, main streets, and locally owned businesses.
FYI - Darboy is actually a sanitary district comprised of the towns of Buchanan and Harrison, not an actual city.

Darboy (er, Buchanan/Harrison) will always be just a bunch of houses built in a farm field to me.
