Question Homesteading

Does WI have homesteading rights? I was told today that it might. Can anyone here help me out with this?

Many thanks

I very highly doubt it. I think every square inch of land is claimed by someone or another and it's not up for grabs. I'm not sure what Wisconsin's laws are regarding adverse possession.

I doubt there are any states with homesteding rights. With 300 million people it could get real ugly real fast.

I believe Alaska still has homesteading rights. Don't quote me on it though.

You can still stake out state property in designated areas in Alaska; but you have to lease your stake and then buy it after a certain period at market value.

Definitely not homesteading, though. OTOH, individual communitities are still welcome to give away land.

Even in areas where they aren't giving land away the prices in some parts of the midwest are amazing - at least to someone coming from the Puget Sound area!
