Default Is Racine Wi Safe for family

Moving to Racine with family.
have Young, Beautiful Blond, Russian Wife. Moving to Racine area East of Lathrop, North of Pierce. Is this area safe enough for wife to walk to store, or through neighborhood at nigt?

What kind of area is this as far as crime?

Did you look at the crime stats on the Racine City Data page? http://www.city-data.com/city/Racine-Wisconsin.html

You could also check out the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel website to see what kinds of stories are coming out of that area: Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

I've never lived there but haven't heard a whole lot of good things about it. Personally, I would never choose to live there. But perhaps some locals will come across this thread and provide some first-hand insight for you. In the meantime, google crime rankings...I have some printouts here that show Racine as being pretty high in that regard (as in, more crime going on) - but unfortunately, I can't recall exactly where I got them.
