family~artsy~affordable~small town
anything like that near milwaukee?? we are thinking of relocating for a job...
dont know where to start.
right now we live in just that sort of area in NY state...outside NYC ,on our dirt roads...and we love it. We are in the arts, so culture and tolerance have to go hand in hand with affordability and good school.
(approx. 100k a year)
thanks for your help, i dont know where to start.

What do you mean by "tolerance"?
This can be a scary statement. I find that usually people that preach a need for "tolerance" are the most opinionated, closed minded individuals I have ever met.
The world is getting a little tired of people who claim: "you must accept me, but I, on the other hand, do not have to accept you."
Just a comment - if you move anywhere and claim to need "tolerance", you may be in for a rough time.

just a thought
tolerance and wisconsin do not ryhme.I guess I do not get this tolerance thing. what do you do that is so bad that you need to be tolerated???
If you do drugs and beat your wife, well that is not tolerated.
If you wear funny hats and t-shirts that will be ok
If you like to go around calling hunters murderers that won't jive to well
If you complain about taxes you will fit right in.
You need to be more specific about what you do that needs alot of tolerating, cuz it probably is not going to tolerated.
Good luck and Cheers

Tolerance to me=
Same sex couple being able to walk down the street holding hands without a problem
Black and white couple being able to do the same

Sorry, I did not think of that, really. I always think tolerant means "to put up with someones crap you rather wouldn't"
If that is what it means I think you would be ok around milwaukee if your gay or interracial. Up north the gay holding hands thing would not go over too good but I still think you would be ok. THe interracial thing is kinda alright anywhere from what I have seen. I think those days have been over for awhile in WI

West Bend is probably your best bet if you want to be close to Milwaukee. If not, I recommend the following small towns:
Ashland
Baraboo
Viroqua
Stevens Point
Dodgeville
Mineral Point
Bayfield
Spring Green
Menominie
Fish Creek

Cambridge is 45 minutes from Milwaukee.
Village of Cambridge Wisconsin, Cambridge Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce
About 30 years ago a long-haired potter came to town, turned it from a sleepy farm town into someplace quite different. Also has a beautiful lake.
