America's Top Cities for Recycling
Metrogrades: The Best Cities for Recycling: Men's Heath.com
This month's issue of Men's Health featured an article which ranked America's top cities for recycling. Surprisingly, Milwaukee came in at No. 13 out of 100 cities nationwide. Not surprisingly, Madison came in at No. 9. Way to go Wisconsin!

I think that is awesome! I like recycling, I used to recycle myself in Illinois because it wasn't offered where I lived. Two Rivers makes it easy, they pick recycling up the same day they pick up garbage.

Interesting Wisconsin History:
- The first hydroelectric plant, which uses rushing water to produce environmentally-friendly electricity, was built in Appleton, Wisconsin in 1882.
- The University of Wisconsin-Madison College of Engineering’s Solar Energy Lab is the oldest of its kind in the world.
- Earth Day was founded by former Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson to encourage people to learn about the environment and take action. Today, more than 200 million people in 140 countries recognize Earth Day!
- The City of Madison offered the first curbside recycling program in the nation, starting with newspaper collection in 1968.
