Default Lack of affordable Broadband Internet in rural Wisconsin

Just a quick question for you. After I visited some of my wife's family who live in up nort' Minnesota, I was just amazed at, despite how remotely they life, the fact they have DSL and cable!

I live just east of St Paul, MN in western Wisconsin (River Falls/Prescott) in the country and we have no services! There are tons more population where we live versus my wife's family. What give? Why the lack of investment by the cable and telephone companies in our state? What I pay for this satellite internet is what my in-laws pay for all their telecom. Such a disgrace!

Anybody else out there shocked by the lack of infrastructure in Wisconsin?

Obama is trying to fix this actually. He is looking at broadband as the next utility, not a service.
