Eau claire Wisconsin
Hubby is putting in for a job in Northeastern Wisconsin, was wondering about the cost of living there, and about the area. Any info would be helpful...pictures would be nice also. Thanks
Darlene

Eau Claire is in far west WI, near the MN border. It's a good 3 - 4 hour drive from northeastern WI, depending on exactly which town you would be departing from.

Eau Claire is largest city in area . Many smaller towns around if want country living feel. Cost of living is not bad, but wages are not like in other monster cities either. If like fishing, boating, biking, hiking and such many good areas around. crime rate not to bad, but is a college town. Does not take much to get out where the woods and water is. If have specific questions will help out where can. I am in Eau Claire weekly so know some about it.

Sales tax in WI is 5.5%
Weather is very cold, cold, snowy, sunny, humid, mild, rainy, and dry.
Housing market is pretty rough, lots of homes for sale.
Nearest base is about 2 hours south (I think?)
Property tax is about $2,500 for every $100,000.
WI schools are towards the top of the list across the country.
Please do some research on your own though, don't rely on us to give you all the answers :-)
Also, I find Eau Claire to be very, very boring - the wife and I are moving out of the area in a few weeks to Appleton, WI.

Thanks for the info, I am doing tons of research, (as we have turned down several other job offers in other states). I just wanted to know some things to get me started . Can anyone tell me the towns or cities around Eau Claire? Best areas to live? I have 3 children, 19,17 & 11, two of which will be looking for a job there. Thanks.

You have Eau Claire, surrounding cities are no more than 500-2,000 people. Nearest 'normal' sized city is Menomonie which has a population of about 13,000.
Eau Claire is it for jobs.
