get in with a group of IL drivers and pretty soon you are all going 90 MPH on the freeway, makes drive time a lot shorter

personally whenever i go to IL it reminds me of how bad WI drivers really are. no one has any sense of urgency around here, and most of the time you know people are only paying half attention to their surroundings . i take great pride in cars, driving, and skills, and... its just disheartening sometimes.

and then every year, without fail, every year the first day of winter comes and its like everyone's first time behind the wheel

Oh, and lets not forget the highway patrol always giving speeding tickets out to Illinois drivers. I HATE living in Wisconsin and I will be moving soon. Wisconsin may be considered "family" oriented, but I don't call bars and drunks everywhere family oriented. Nor do I like the mass over eating and hunters around here. Not to mention my tax bill on a 170,000 house is 4 GRAND! Yes $4,000. IF you are thinking of moving to Milwaukee, DON'T. You'll get a lot more for your money other places.

I am 23 and don't drink so my view my be in the minority, but this is just my opinion. If anyone has any questions about Wisconsin, please let me know. I will try to answer them as honestly as I can.
I'm 24 and don't drink, and I'm stuck in a college town in mid-Illinois, working on my doctorate. It would be nicer to be, say, in Chicago or Seattle ... or even Madison (from what everyone says). My two personal favorite places in the Midwest are Ann Arbor and Evanston, and I'm not even really a liberal per se.

The problem with Wisconsin is that when "you" Illinois people buy out all the tickets to the game, Wisconsin people can't take a break from their drinking by going to the game!

I have been to Green Bay and Door County (via Michigan's Upper Peninsula). In mid-May, for a couple of days, I will check out Madison and Milwaukee.

Default Former Wisconsite Speaks

Hi

I was born and raised in south central Wisconsin, and moved to Oklahoma City, many years ago with my hubby and children.

I love to go back to visit, but am glad to live here in Okla. City. Our taxes are lower - our gasoline is cheaper, and there are a lot of other good things about OKC.

Of course, there I things that I do hate about Oklahoma - like the heat - the wind and the red (yes I said red) dirt.

For the most part, people here are friendly and hospitable.

Default Moving to Wisconsin

I would never move there. Born and raised in Kenosha. Please go to Colorado.
The schools are horrible in southeast Wisconsin, and all people do is drink, go to the bar and do drugs and watch the Packers.
I am so happy that I didn't raise my daughter there.

They still play the same 'ole music on the radio they did when I moved away six years ago.
The winters are depressing.
Wisconsin people are also really out of shape.

This is so true. While in college, my girlfriend was from illinios so her and I would make the trip from college back to her house very often. This is when I learned how to REALLY drive.

What absolutely drives me insane is how people drive in the left lane going the speed limit in Wisconsin! They need to enforce that "left lane for passing" law and start pulling people over.

Can I just say that redhotcrystal is insane. People aren't as friendly? Have you ever been to New York? Maybe you really just don't know how to talk to people. Many people in Wisconsin also are much more simple and informal but generally very friendly and easy to get along with. There also is culture in Wisconsin you just have to know where to look and what cities to look in. You won't find it sitting in your house judging people.
