Talking Moving to Manitowoc

Our daughter was offered a job in Manitowoc. She will be graduating from Western Michigan Univeristy next week. With her living 8 hours away, and we are in U.P. about 4 hours away, searching for a place to live will not be easy! Can anyone give me any advice as to what areas to look in? How far is Sheboygan from Manitowoc? Two Rivers? Are there any websites we can look at? Should she try to stay right in Manitowoc? Are there any new apartments we should check into? I guess you get my point. We are going in blind and with very little time to try to find something. Thanks so much for any help you can give us.

I live in Two Rivers (12,500) right next to Manitowoc (34,000) I think she could find something in the area rather than going further south to Sheboygan. Manitowoc is bigger than TR, has an extension campus from Univ. of Wisc. so I think she would find it o.k. Its not a bigger city, of course, but Green Bay/Appleton are not that bad of a drive. I'll put in a few links that may help:

Thanks for the information. I will take a look at the websites you gave me and hopefully find her a place to live! She would like to stay in Manitowoc so she won't have to drive so far to work. Thanks again.

You might also check with a Manitowoc realtor to assist in the apartment hunt. Manitowoc is a nice relatively small town and very safe. There really isn't a "bad" area. Your daughter will be fine here. I'm originally from Royal Oak but have lived in Manty all my adult life after college. The place grows on you after awhile. Where will your daughter be working? I know there is a local young professionals group that meets in the area. The local chamber of commerce could provide info on that. Good luck to her!

She will be working at a long term health care facility. I'm not sure of the name. She is a Speech Language Pathologist and is looking forward to the move. She has been over 8 hours from home for the past 4 years and being only 2 hours away will be great. I did look on the website for the local paper and it looked like there were several apartments for rent at a reasonable price. Now the problem becomes getting the time between graduation on the 25th and starting the job to find a place to live. The facility did offer a nice bonus to help with the move. The idea of getting a realtor is one I didn't think of. Thanks for the advice. The next few weeks should prove interesting
