Default Spring

As much as I love winter and bemoan the fact that we only had about 2.5 months of decent snow this spring is awesome.
The snow has been gone for over a month, we have been riding bikes and going on hikes. I love this time because there are no bugs. OK, we have had a few ticks but that is tolerable.
Last year we couldn't plow the garden until May and we did that last week since it is so dry. I am starting some of my seeds inside this weekend. I will plant peas and lettuce next week since they love the cooler weather anyway.

We have had some wimpy winters. At least the snowmobile trails were open for a decent amount of time this year. I remember the winter of 99/00 we didn't get our 1st decent snow until after the New Year and a few years the trails only opened for a week or two.
My guys plowed under their food plots all ready. Last year they buried the tractor in mud in May. I also have my garden ready to go. Just need to put up fencing before we plant some early weather crops. Probably peas, lettuce, spinach and radishes will go in the next 10 days.
We have also had some ticks. More on the dog then us but DH did have a couple.

I put a fresh coat of stain on the back deck this morning. In mid-April! Since we are getting ready to put the house on the market soon, an early Spring works really well for us. It sounds like I'll be able to paint the garage over the next couple of days too. It'll be great to have that done a month ahead of schedule.

Temp in high 60's today; back in the 40's by the weekend.

But the big story is the drought.

Wimpy winters is a good name for them. We have been through our 2nd winter here and it is not what we expected. We wanted lots of snow.
Spring is great too. Not so crazy about summer though. Not a heat person.

Cooler Sunday and Monday and maybe some rain. Then they are saying 60s by the middle.

We are working with a couple who are relocating from the east. They must have been reading this board because they asked us about 6 months of winter. I laughed and told them we love winter and we are lucky to have 2.5 months of snow. I told them maybe 4 months but we were still without snow in early December and it was gone in March.

Can't wait to start planting my garden tomorrow and then the rain will help it. In a little more then a month we should be enjoying some lettuce from the garden.

It's not so much the snow I hate, it's the cold weather that bugs me. If it were in the 20's with snow, I'd be fine with that much more that -10 with no snow.

WooHoo! The garage is completely primed! I love it!! Should be able to get one coat of paint on tomorrow morning before it gets chilly again for a few days.

Gorgeous day today, I've been doing windows and cleaning my little porch off my kitchen! It gets really bad looking during the winter (didn't put the shovel away though)!

I met friends for lunch it was 70°F in Manitowoc, inland about 10 mis. I guess. Of course, here in TR it is 50°F as in cooler near the lake! Good thing I like living near the lake!
