It's has to be the four seasons and family that keeps me here. Plus we don't get hurricanes, earthquakes, uh...them big dust storms (forget what they call them) North Dakata calls them ground blizzards, and we have relatively low tornado outbreaks. So I would suspect money wise things even out

I was in a dust storm one time in Nebraska, had to pull off, stay at a motel to wait it out. The next day plows were shoveling dirt like snow! Now I live where they use a small plow to shovel the sand back to the beach.
One nice thing is I can always dig or shovel because the ground is sand and dirt. In Illinois I had an inch or two of black dirt and the rest was solid clay, like a rock. Get alot of rain and lawn was like a rice paddy took forever to sink in!

When we were stationed in N.D. for awhile, the winds would pick up top soil off the farm lands. You could have everything closed up but a layer of dirt still got in and settled on everything in the house. It was a pain to clean up. But the land is so flat there and no trees really to speak of to slow it down. It was beautiful country in it's own way but I really like Wisconsins rolling hills in the south west part of state and our north woods and lakes can't be beat in my opinion.

Just got back from New Orleans (94 and humid) and yesterday it was 40 degrees when I got out of the car in Milwaukee. Can't wait to move somewhere warm.

I like AZ in the winter but in the summer there's no escape. It's not only the heat of the day that sucks but also when it's still 90+ degrees at 5:00 am. AZ winter is Dec - Mar, 90 degrees in Nov and Apr. I don't really enjoy burning my hands on the car steering wheel and seat belt clips either. I like refreshing cool air. If it's cold out, I put more clothes on. If it's too hot there's only so many clothes that can be removed.

Why in the WI forums does the debate always just boil down to a "Phoenix v. WI climate" discussion? It is like if you don't like WI's bitterly cold, ultra-long winters / very-cool-or-cold springs, your only other option is the baking hot Phoenix climate.
There are TONS of climates that are good moderates well between the two - Albuquerque, El Paso, Louisville, Memphis, Atlanta, Cincinnati, Baltimore, Jacksonville, LA, San Diego, Sacramento, Portland, Philly, NYC, Kansas City - etc., etc., etc.
