Default Difference between WI and MN

I live in MN, but also like WI (other than the Packers). I think they are very similar states, but also different. Here's what I think:

Similarities:
Northwoods and lakes
Midwestern friendly
Progressive
Great Lakes access
Both share wonderful Mississippi River Bluff Country and driftless zone

Differences:
WI is more hilly
MN has more lakes
MN has more diversity in geography
MN's metro is more cosmopolitan
WI has more medium sized cities
WI is closer to Chicago

What do you think?

WI doesn't

Default WI has more lakes than MN

WI has over 15 thousand lakes, we just don't advertise it as heavily. Wisconsin Lakes Partnership - WDNR

As for geography, I would say WI is much more diverse than MN. We have the areas formed by glaciers into drummonds, kettle moraines and so forth, bluffs and river valleys, prairies, and forests.

We also have many more dairy farms!

Yeah more White and boring, not even cosmo at all in MN or TC. This is one of the most overrated aspect's of TC's. In Milwaukee I actually feel like I'm in a big city, in TC it feels more like a giant Madison.

I'll take white and boring any day. I lived in Maryland for 37 years and Baltimore city was definitly not white or boring...there was at least one homicide per day for years. Now I live in Lincoln Co. and I love it, I don't have to watch over my sholder all the time. You can have all your urban diversity it's not all that it's cracked up to be, as far as I'm concerned.

I am starting to think you've never been to Madison and/or the TC's, as the TC's don't "feel" like Madison at all.

Wisconsin professes to have 15,081 lakes.

However, 9,037 of these lakes are unnamed and average only roughly four acres in size, leaving only 6044 that are large enough to be named.

In contrast, Minnesota has 11,842 named lakes larger than ten acres.

(Lakes, rivers & wetlands: Minnesota Facts & Figures: Minnesota DNR)

When including unnamed lakes over ten acres the number is 15,291. Various estimates propose that if Minnesota were to lower its cut-off threshold to five acres the number could approach or exceed 20,000 lakes.

In addition, when considering the surface area of each of the states five largest lakes (great lakes excluded), Wisconsin's largest cover 204,105 acres whereas Minnesota's top five total 896,387. Add to that the fact that the surface area of Minnesota's largest eight lakes is greater than all 15,081 "lakes" in Wisconsin.

I guess I can see why they don't advertise...

Oh we (blacks) will be following you to Lincoln County...faster than you can say "there goes the neighborhood." We will haunt you in your dreams...
