Default LaCrosse/Onalaska Area Residents' input needed

I am trying to decide where I want to live and open up my chiropractic clinic. I was looking at Plymouth, Mn (just west of Minneapolis) but have recently been looking into LaCrosse/Onalaska. I grew up in Tomah, so I am familiar with the area. What I need to know is if it is a good place to live and raise a family. I'm single now, but hope to get married and start a family a few years after opening my practice. So good schools, low crime, cost of living and overall atmosphere are important. Where ever I decide to live, its going to be for good, it's not easy to build up a practice and then move somewhere and startover again. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The La Crosse area (Onalaska/Holmen/West Salem/majority of La Crosse) is a great place to live and raise a family, a bit more so than Tomah (no offense). A little docile and slow-paced, but very family-oriented. I don't think anyone's going to badmouth the area in those regards.
