When it was 80 almost 2 weeks ago I thought it was too hot to fast. But then again I am one of those that is out walking, hiking, skiing, snowshoeing or even, if there is no snow, riding my bicycle in the winter.

Glad you enjoyed the day. There WAS a time that the cold really did not bother me much. After I was diagnosed with R.A. several years ago, it became apparent to me that cold and damp weather was not helping it. That is the MAIN reason I now live in Nevada. I will so much miss the nice Wisconsin summers and the beautiful fall weather. But I have to be honest and say that I Won't miss the winters at all. Never the less, Wisconsin will always be a part of me. A great state with so much to offer, to so many!!

I don't mind the cold now. We are still in our early 50s but when we are ready to retire I could see going somewhere warm for the winter months. But not FL, I wouldn't want the humidity. My uncle lived there and no one was ever out unless they were at the beach. They all sat in their air conditioning. I would go somewhere warm not hot and low humidity!

I could no loger tolerate the cold long winters and the endless dreary/overcast days. Not being into any winter sports at all, being "Couped" up in the house for 6-8 months out of the year was too much. I love outdoor activities like yard work, bicycling, hiking, walking and could easily hanlde 365 days a year of sunshine. This will be my first full summer in L.V. Looking forward to that first 100 degree day. While everyone else out here will be "Holed-up" in their Homes with the A.C. blasting, You'll find me OUTSIDE doing something!!!

i wouldnt call you weak. every year - and i never noticed this until my wife pointed it out - towards the end of winter i start talking about moving south. i cant stand being cooped up, i miss warm, clear pavement to drive on... a friend of mine just told me he is moving to ft walton beach, florida this month. i want to go too!!!

Well I also have R.A. and that has been a concern. Since i've been in Nevada, the pain is mostly gone. BYW--I stopped in the local Harley shop the other day--the parts guy is from Fon Du Lac. Isn't that your hometown. He has been out here 3 years, and sometimes thinks of moving back but he says he probably won't because he had the "Winter Problem" too. Hey Yo-you won't have to get down on me ever again--we now have Sho And Mista to do that. LOL

Well, I am one of Wisconsin's staunchest supporters....lifetime resident, love Wisconsin. But even I can not find and excuse for today's weather. I know spring was awfully slow in coming this year...usually by now I'm out happily puttering in my garden. But when I awoke this morning to one of the worst snow storms I've seen at ANY time of the year....well that is just ENOUGH! I'm looking out my window to snowdrifts, the wind blowing so hard my trees are bending over, and the snow still coming. IT IS APRIL for heaven sake.

As a 26+-year Wisconsin resident (3+ years now removed) who still has an ovewhelming proportion of friends and family still in the area (MKE area) and returns to visit frequently (and considers moving back again!)........I feel your pain! I have followed along all day today at work with live online camera shots, Weather Channel updates, newspaper updates...yeesh!! That is more like February weather...not mid-April!
I know one of my friends up there sounds somewhat almost suicidal today over the snow!
Hang in there...May is on the way...and at least this snow will not stick around. Hopefully.
I am currently considering relocating from Albuquerque (one of the great climates in the U.S.) to WI (one of the...well...not so great climates for half the year)...so besides that and taxes, WI still must have tons going for it! (And at least the Brewers have a roof over their heads unlike the Cleveland boys!).

I still remember the big snow storm that occured in May, was like 1991 or 92.
Was driving from Manitowoc back to Appleton-actually had to pull off the road at Forest Junction--It was that Bad!! My Grandpa(now passed away), claimed Appleton had 5 inches of snow on July 2nd, I think he said in the early 40s. Yes, I see on the Weather Channel Wisconsin is getting "Slammed" again today. Grin and bear it, I guess. Hopefully all the good folks back there will have a magnificent summer and fall!! There will be some day in July here in Henderson this year when it will be 110 degress, and I will be thinking of a cool, blue Wisconsin lake, wishing I was there to jump into it. We just can't have it how we always like it, no matter where we live. Well-Happy shoveling!!

My aunt's funeral was on May 1st 1996 and we had a decent snow the day before. Right now you can't see out our windows because the snow is blowing around. The news showed Eagle River and it is bone dry up that way.
It is going to be 45 by Friday so it will be a fast melt!
