We're originally from WI. Every time we go back to visit family and friends, we always make sure we go to Frank's Pizza Palace for their great cheese and sausage pizza as well as somewhere for a Friday "fish fry" for lake perch or haddock. You can get a great Friday night "fish fry" at almost every WI restaurant. Our favorite places for the fish fry are Gobbler's Knob Supper Club (Stockbridge), Jim and Linda's Lakeview Supper Club (Pipe/Malone)
Jim and Linda's Lakeview Supper Club, Introduction, Waverly Beach (Menasha), Naut's Landing (Menasha), Dick & Joan's (Appleton), Riverside (Fremont), and Clear Water Harbor (Waupaca)
Waupaca cruises, Stevens Point restaurant, Chain O' Lakes live music, Clear Water Harbor, Waupaca County wedding receptions, banquet halls, waterfront restaurant
Beautiful historic places to see are the Riverside Park area in Neenah, Jefferson Park are in Menasha, the entire area in Appleton between Pierce Park and Peabody Park (including City Park and driving on College Ave in the Lawrence University area). You can also tour the first home in the world lit with electricity
Hearthstone Historic Museum House as well as the Houdini Historical Center
Houdini at the History Museum at the Castle, both in Appleton.
Someone mentioned hiking at High Cliff State Park. Yes, I think that is a great place to go for a picnic, hiking (trails and to the top of the tower) and camping too.
The Fox River Mall is the best in the area. People even drive from many areas of the state including up from Milwaukee and down from Green Bay to come to it.
Another fun thing to do in Appleton is to go to a Wisconsin Timber Rattlers baseball game. They used to have fireworks after every game (unsure if they still do that).
Wisconsin Timber Rattlers: Home
If you plan to go to Green Bay, a fun and very reasonable place to go to is Bay Beach Park. Even though they have some "kiddy" rides, there are plenty of rides and things to do for older kids and adults too. It's a beautiful place on the shore of the bay in Green Bay.
Bay Beach Amusement Park
If you have more time, you may want to check out Door County too. Specifically Peninsula State Park, Fish Creek, Ephraim, and Sister Bay.
Enjoy your trip visiting the Appleton area!
