Viroqua, anyone?
I'm considering a move to Wisconsin in the future, and Have heard a little about Viroqua. How are housing costs there? Inexpensive rentals? Is it a family friendly environment? Thanks for any input.

Hello Allison, Viroqua is a unique place I think you will enjoy living here if you come. Housing rentals are hard to find, if you want to rent a house and not an apartment it can become a challenge to find suitable rentals. Purchasing a home in town, an average price range would be from $90,000 to $130,000not a fixer, that could be found for less. If you prefer a rural property expected the cost to be much higher and around $150,000 or better depending on the acreage size. mod cut-realtor ads not allowed

I was born and raised in Viroqua and now reside in Colorado Springs.
I can tell you that Viroqua is a great place to live, and especially family friendly. I bring my girls back there each summer and they absolutely love it back there. If I wasn't living here, I'd definately be back there.
You have a lot of resources to check out home prices...just google Viroqua housing and see what you come up with. You can also go to the local newspaper website and get a lot of valuable info.
Good luck!

I'm from around the Viroqua area as well. Viroqua is a nice town that is definitely family friendly. Westby is another nice town that is close by and a little close to a larger city, La Crosse. You could drive to La Crosse for work from either town. All of the small towns in the area are extremely family friendly and the people are very nice.

Viroquoa is a sleeply little town..not much going on there. A lot of older people in the area.
There are two major drawbacks:
1) Larger cities are not easily accessible. You have to drive down 2-lane roads that are often very slow going due to curves, hills, etc. No real direct routes or interstate travel options.
2) The weather! This area is a prime target for all the storms that make their way into Wisconsin year-round!
I would definitely do some more research before choosing this area even though it has beautiful scenery.
