Question on auto insurance law in new budget
Does anyone know a link where I can find out about that
new gotta-buy-auto-insurance clause in the new budget?
I heard on tv that the gov reduced the required amount
with his line-item veto. But I don't know the details
like
when does it start?
how much does a person need to buy?
what are the predictions as to the premium rate increases?
This is the pits of a law, but gotta do it now. Sometimes
people just really can't afford life anymore. These insurance
companies are so **** greedy it isn't funny. They own the
government right down to the nails in the floor boards.
It is such the pits.

The insurance companies didn't want this.
The insurance industry in Wisconsin has been trying to make sure this doesn't go through. You can thank Jim Doyle's affection towards trial lawyers for this one.
As far when it will start, I'm not sure. There is one other state that doesn't have a minimum liability limit law...I think it's in the NE somewhere.
It's been predicted that auto insurance rates in WI will go from the bottom 25% nationwide to the top 25%. Thank you Governor Doyle!

Isn't that a good thing, then? I think everyone should have insurance! I've got full coverage on my motorcycle and liability on my Maxima. I think it's dangerous to ride around with out insurance.

Here in Fla the auto insurance company notifies the state of you cancel and if another one doesnt notify that they picked you up they automatic suspend your licences.
I know a police officer that was driving around on duty for mths on a suspend license and didnt know till he just happen to run his own license one day out of being bored, He was working off duty guarding a temple got bored and ran his own license. It came back suspended
The rates arent cheap
Fla also passed a law that if you get caught with a dui to get insurance you have to pay a higher rate and pay for 3 years at a time. I believe you have to carry 100k or something like that. My insurance agent told us about a guy that worked for the city had to have his license and insurance. He had to pay over 10k to get insurance for his license. That was for his 1st dui

there is nothing wrong with everyone on the road needing at least minimum coverage. It's wrong that I have to pay extra for un-insured motorists on my policies just to make sure i'm covered ( actually had to use it some years ago when tagged by someone with no license or insurance ).

WI has ridiculously low insurance rates right now. I also find it amazing that people wouldn't want auto insurance. What do you do if you are in an accident? What if you seriously hurt someone and/or total their car--do you really have the money to pay for all that? Isn't $60/month worth it??
