No offense but this isn't the 50's anymore, most white kids want to be black nowadays. It's a nice small town that should give you no problems raising your kids. I wouldn't even think twice about it. I don't think they know what racial tension is up in GB, all of their hero's are black and wear green and gold on Sundays. Your kids will be treated just like anyone other kid, they probably will have the time of their life living up in small town green bay.

Green Bay isn't rural Texas or Georgia, so you have nothing to worry about.

Personally I would avoid Green Bay and move to Appleton/Fox Valley instead.

Yes, the white children are going to chase your children down the street and throw rocks and bottles at them. Additionally, a cross will be burned in your lawn, the Klan will conduct successful recruitment drives, the police will pull you over twice a week for no reason, all of your neighbors will immediately put out "for sale" signs and it won't be but a year before your whole neighborhood is black, et cetera et cetera et cetera.
The "white people are demons" meme is getting old. This is 2009. Get a grip.

Ok Drover you have no idea where this guy is coming from or his experiences.
Anyway, LordLion you will really enjoy Green Bay. It's a wonderful place to raise kids. I would recommend looking in De Pere or Ashwaubenon to live. The schools are great and there are lots of kids. There have been some "racial" problems if you want to call it that at some of the "inner city" if you can call it that, high schools like Green Bay East, but I'd say they're minor. I've never heard of issues in De Pere or Ashwaubenon. Prepare your kids though, they could very likely be the only or just some of a very few black kids in their class. Green Bay is pretty white, but nice! Oh and don't be offended if someone asks you if you're a Packer! They ask with love! Ha!

Let me ask you this, if I were to stroll into, say, the Detroit threads, and ask "Hi, I'm a white guy looking to move to Detroit, am I going to get beaten or shot because I'm white?" do you think anyone would give a flip what my experiences are? Would you?
We're told again and again in this country that experiences with individuals should not form our assumptions about the group(s) to which they belong. It cuts both ways. If we are not to presume blacks are criminals or Hispanics are illegals, whites are similarly entitled to the presumption that we as a class are not unrepentant bigots. And I for one am growing tired of the presumption that we are.

At no time did the OP ever insinuate his children would be in physical danger, all he did was ask how his kids would be treated. I'll admit his statement was a little ignorant, but it didn't come across as being nearly as hostile your response to it was.
Let's not forget that Green Bay is still like 90% white and located in a semi-rural part of the state. It's only natural for a person of color to be curious about the area's attitudes towards different races/cultures.

Personally, I can't stand it when people assume any Black person in Northeast Wisconsin with a little money either has to be a professional athlete or the wife of a professional athlete.
