Here's an example, when somebody plans on getting sh*t-faced, falling down drunk they might say they're going to "give-er" hard.
|
I hear people use it in reference to "working hard" or "driving fast". I was really "given-er".

Ive been there a couple of times and loved it. Spent most of my time south of Madison though, but the folks are friendly, the scenery is gorgeous, and they have real winters there!
And yes, Id love to go back to see more of 'dairyland' country, lol.

Unfriendly people can be found anywhere. Having lived in 5 states in 44 years and traveled in umteen, friendly and unfriendly people are all over. Hopefully we can all be as fortunate as Cha-Ching when we have to move!

if this was some word association game.. and the word was Wisconsin, these would be the first things that would come to mind:
Wisconsin:
Cheese
Beer
Packers
Bratwurst
Laverne and Shirley
Fat People
That 70s Show

Just back from Bayfield/Apostle Islands and Minocqua. Still impressed with how well everybody takes care of their equipment, how beautiful the dairy farms are, how well maintained the properties are, and how there doesn't seem to be much showboating going on. Quiet competence, that's how I'd characterize it. But we ran into a few people who were really interested in getting away from WI. Said it was too boring.

I'm in Oconomowoc, about 1/2 hour west of Milwaukee. The only thing I hate is winter(5-6 months of it). I love all the lakes near me to fish. I can fish at least 20 lakes within a 10 minute drive of my house.

I'm between Sheboygan and Green Bay since 2007 and I'm so glad I don't have 6 months of winter, 4 maybe but never 5 or 6! I guess I classify winter as December-March!!!

Agree.
I enjoy fall and spring on each end of the 3 months of winter. Jan and Feb are cold, but that's what keeps the snow and ice around to mess around in.
