We hear the coyotes making a racket most nights and we live in central WI, on the outer edge of a small town. Quite funny when they manage to get some of the local mutts riled up. Never seen or heard a wolf though. Up north in Rheinlander we've seen lots of wolf tracks when out in the woods. We even had some bear tracks down by the lake just a few yards from the cottage.

Will black bears attack children? They don't normally eat meat do they?
I attached a picture that one of my friends sent of a small black bear in his back yard.

I certainly wouldn't take the chance. That does look like a small one. I don't know at what age, but I would've been more scared of mama bear beign around yet.

I would be far more worried about a bear attack then one by a wolf. There have been bear sightings in a much wider range in the state; and tougher to escape if need be ( can't exactly climb a tree to keep clear of one )

Have never seen one but haven't lived in Wisconsin full time for many years.
