Gays are human too, We should never have to say "No you can't marry your boyfriend/girlfriend because you are gay and i even have a book that says you can't do that!" It's just crazy
Seriously why can't we just be accepting, you can vote to support gay marriage and not get married to someone as the same gender as you

I would be in favor. If two people love each other they should be able to get married to take responsibility for each other. It doesn't affect my life if those two people are man and woman, neither does it if they are man and man or woman and woman. All people are entitled to the same rights as long as it doesn't interfer with the rights of others, which clearly wouldn't be the case if gay marriage was legal.
So why should I be against it?

Hello

Regardless of how you feel personally or religiously. The Constitution of the United States of America and the associated Amendments to it (Bill of Rights) ARE the law of the land. PERIOD.

The 14th Amendment guarantees equal rights to all citizens no matter who they are.
"All persons being born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. NO STATE shall make any or enforce ANY LAW which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States, nor shall ANY STATE deprive any person of life, liberty or property WITHOUT DUE PROCESS OF LAW, nor DENY to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the law."

There are a lot of people out there who say they are Americans but don't want to comply with laws they do not agree with. You cannot have it both ways. The 14th Amendment as an amendment to the Constitution and is therefore the law of land. If you disagree then the 2nd Amendment is not the law of the land either.

The only reason that the States are passing these laws violating the 14th Amendment is that most of the legislators have never read it or the Constitution much less understand what it means and they don't seem interest in changing any time soon. Like I said in a previous post these are the same arguments and tactics used to maintain segregation in this country and they are just as stupid, irrelevant and unfeeling as they were then. What we need is another Brown v Board of Education only this time regarding civil liberties for gays.

The issue of equal rights for blacks was put on the back burner from the 1880's (14th Amendment) until the 1960's because of mindless prejudice and the reluctance of the legislatures and courts to act according to the Constitution. Hopefully we have learned something from these mistakes.

Many people site Old Testament scripture in defense of their position. The only parts of the Bible that count as far as I'm concerned are the Commandments of Moses and the words of Jesus our Saviour himself.

Would you allow others to treat you for what you are like you want to treat or have these people treated? NO you would be screaming your head of. If you are a person of Faith and are a citizen then prove it! You do not have to like these people or the law, but as an citizen of this country you do have to abide by the law. The precept of our entire legal system is "EQUAL JUSTICE UNDER LAW". This includes laws passed by Congress, State legislatures, criminal law or civil law.


THERE IS NO DEBATE THE LAW OF THE LAND IS CLEAR.

Hello

I am confused. Earlier in this thread someone posted that EVERYONE knows that the movement was a front to legalize beastiality. When you said everyone, who exactly were you were referring to because according to this thread there are a lot of people who disagree with you. Even most of my conservative neighbors (I live in the Bible belt) would disagree. WHY because its bull. Its a scare tactic to influence the ill informed and poorly educated towards a particular point of view.

Perhaps you mean everyone who thinks like you?
