You're about the only one. And it's still not part of the UW system.

The saying at our high school was always "When in doubt, go to Stout; if not there, Eau Claire!"
But they were to the two closest UW schools to my hometown, so 70% of students went to those two schools!

This is the most ridiculous thing you've ever posted here.

I know that Marquette is private. My point was that it seems to have a reputation on par with UWM.

I have to disagree with you on this. UW Madison has a number of academic programs in the top 10 or so in the nation and is also one of the largest universities in the country. Marquettte is a great school. But it can't stack up to this.

My son attended UW-Milwaukee for two years. This fall he'll be going to Lakeshore Technical College (LTC) in Cleveland. Said he "doesn't like having to take all those courses not related to his major." I told him two years ago to start off with LTC and go from there. But, he declined. He knew better. Don't they all.
Anyway, he did like UWM and all it had to offer. They could definitely use more dorm rooms. UWM is like its own little town. Has pretty much everything a student needs, and is in a really nice area of Milwaukee.

I see. Not sure where that enters into the conversation though since the OP was asking about UW schools.

So much depends on the program. For the graduate areas I am familiar with, it would be UW Madison, Marquette and UW Milwaukee. However, different programs can lead to different orders. For undergrad programs in this area, UW Madison would not make the top three.

Just stumbled onto this thread.. from NC, never even been to Wisconsin.
As a complete outsider's perspective, I'd say that the U of Wisconsin is well-known. Not quite the level of U of Illinois or Michigan, but maybe a little higher than Minnesota, and other large midwestern state universities. Madison has a reputation as an interesting place.
Marquette, few people have heard of. Even fewer could tell you that it is in Wisconsin. It may be a fine school, but in terms of national reputation and name recognition it does not compare with the school in Madison.
