Reputation of University of Wisconsin Campuses
I was just curious what stereotype or stigma each of the different campuses have at the University of Wisconsin - there are so many of them! Does one campus have the rap of being more prestegious than another? Is one a party school? Besides narrowing down because of the intended major (obviously), which ones are great and which ones should be avoided?

Quickly:
UW: Party School, hard to get into, but once you graduate it's like you're a officially become a snob.
UW Point: one word: Pot.
UW Stout: very nice small school.
UW Milw: plays second fiddle to UW and people who go to UWM hate it. Big rivalry is UW, however UWM has better looking women!
Prestige:
UW
UWM
gap
the rest of the UW system.

UW-Madison: Most prestigious of the UW schools. Noted as one of the top research institutes in the world. Good party school.
UW-LaCrosse: 2nd to Madison in academics. Most bars per capita of any city in the US.
UW-Milwaukee: 2nd largest student body after Madison. In my opinion, the #1 party school in Wisconsin. Best Business program in the state. Home to Peck School of the Arts, the best fine arts school in the state. Milwaukee is becoming more involved in the area of research and is building the world's first School of Freshwater Sciences.
UW-Oshkosh: Dead last in academics. UWO is the party school for all the Yoopers and rednecks from the Northwoods.
UW-Stout: Laughing stock of the UW system. It's basically a technical/community college that grants Bachelor's degrees in some very unconventional areas such as Casino & Gaming management, Resort & Golf Course management, Food Packaging Systems, and Apparel Design.
UW-Superior: Tons of hippies and granola types go here. Environmental Sciences are the main focus.
UW-Stevens Point: Wisconsin's top agriculture/horticulture school (which could explain why they have such good pot). Lots of hippies and granola types.

Come to think of it, I did have alot of northwoods classmates . But the business school is good. For, y'know, the "other" school

Oshkosh probably has the best Music program in the whole state. While Milwaukee and Madison have good music programs, they're more geared towards performance, composition, and teaching. Oshkosh offers Music Business and Recording Technology as options in addition to the performance, composition, and education routes. They're also the only school in Wisconsin to offer a Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning.

LOL. Yep, I remember hearing that back in high school from my Economics teacher and it stuck with me.

UW-Platteville: I don't know much, except that they offer a Construction Management degree there and I think it's the only such program in the state.

I'm thinking about going to UWGB for a B.A. of Applied Science with an emphasis in photography. Don't know their specialty though.

I thought UW-River Falls was the ag college and UW-Stevens Point was more environmental and natural resources college.
