I'm getting a job just south of Friesland, WI and I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on where to live. I currently live in Holland, MI (and I like where I'm living, I'm just getting a better job). Items of importance are: Excellent Hospitals and Schools, low crime, stable home values, lots of activities to do (we like skiing and active sports).

I need to be within 1 hour of Friesland. Is there anything like Grand Haven, Holland, Saugatuck in that region? (If you know those cities)

Any ideas?

Hey, I live about half an hour west of Friesland in Portage. I'd check out Waupun, Beaver Dam, Portage, Columbus. All have some decent amenities if you ask me.

When I was in Saugatuck it reminded me of a mini Door County! Really liked it.

yes- we love the area we live in now. We would like to find something like it around that area. Obviously, the closer the better. How is the Beaver Dam area? Does that have cute areas? Are the people friendly? We live in Ottawa County which has had some of the highest Republican turn-out in the nation, so I think we'll fit in, in a conservative state.

Beaver Dam is more blue collar, kind of old if you ask me. It's a safe town though. I honestly would say Waupun is your best bet.
