Have you ever been to CA? it's hardly a desert. Especially northern Cali you would think you were in Wisconsin.

Google "Central Valley".
Not Northern Cali, few cows there.
Also, Google, "Factory Farm".
And look what happens to milk production for every degree the temp is above 70F.
FYI, California is mostly desert (Coastal and Inland) in the southern 2/3, and a semi-arid grassland between the Coastal Ranges and the Sierra.
Which is why Cali dairy farming is so different; dependent on cheap (subsidized) water.
But also Google "No Salmon runs in Southern Oregon".
That's what happen when you overpopulate a desert and try to turn it into a "dairyland".
Water's gotta come from somewhere.
Oh yeah,
Been to California numerous times. Part-time resident of PNW (W. Washington).

Also Google: "California's year-round fire season."
Just "Keepin' it real", as they say in Tisch Mills.

Yeah well I'd rather in live in California than Wisconsin or as the northerner's call it sconnie which is yet another dumb nickname.
Usually the best places to live are the places where their the most people, point being: if California, Chicago, Florida, Boston, SF and Milwaukee have millions of people it must be for a reason. Why don't you see a huge population in Wyoming, b/c not many people want to live there. You know some people are afraid of every food and every natural disaster and afraid of the sun and the next thing that will kill you that they worry and fret their whole lives away without taking a single breath and enjoying life for once.
Let me ask you this, why are land values so high in CA ? b/c their is a higher demand than their is land. As a smart person once told me: "Son, start buying land because God isn't making anymore".
PS: Where in the heck is Tisch Mills?

If you look at the history of US development, you will find numerous periods of land speculation/booms followed by spectacular busts.
These often happen in places where densities of H. Sapiens are by design (natural) low, but have greatly increased in a short period of time.
Sort of like too many deer trying to forage in dense forest of pines.
Desert areas are a prime example for us humans.
It's more to do with American ignorance than any other factor.
Tisch Mills (believe I've gotten the spelling correct) is in Manitowoc County.

So this is the reason 40,000,000 people live in CA, and 5,000,000 in WI?
and why is it "American" ignorance instead of "human" ignorance?
I'm guessing you don't like this country and that you might be a liberal, hmmm.

Study your history Milwaukee, look what happened to the desert farming Anasazi Indians of the American southwest. Intensive farming of areas that are poorly watered has always failed in the end.
Can American society solve the problems the Anasazi failed to solve? Maybe, maybe not. But being blithely optimistic isn't reasonable.

Perhaps we should be known for sailing. After all, Wisconsin is a major player in the ship/yacht building industry.
