Default Moving to Vernon, WI with Autistic son...

Hi, I'm moving to Vernon, WI and am wondering about the school district. I have a 7 year old son with Autism. Here in Texas he's in an inclusion program where he is in a general education class for about half the time and pulled out for speecha nd motor lab. Does Vernon have an inclusion program, or do the kids with Autism just end up in special ed.? Also, I've done some research and found out that in the New Berlin district my almost 5 year old can test out to go to kindergarten. (she'll be 5 before Oct. 15) I had trouble finding out about schools in Vernon. Does this apply there, too? Thanks for the help!

Both state and Federal laws in regard to special education entitle your son to programming within the LRE(Least restrictive environment). I would imagine that the school district would attempt to include your son as much as possible. I am not familiar with Vernon's program, however. Make sure to educate yourself in regard to state laws (not sure if you are from out of state or not) and continue advocating for your son. Inclusion should not be at the discretion of a particular school's prgram, but rather by what his IEP states.
