The WISCONSIN Smith/Kreitlow Commercial Dog Breeders Licensure Bill S/B-208-AB-250, is currently still in committee in both the State Assembly and Senate. Public hearings are in Madison this Wednesday,9/23/2009. The Wisconsin Puppy Mill Project: Dedicated to Ending the Suffering in Wisconsin Puppy Mills left menu for legislative updates.

This is a bi-partisan plan to address Wisconsin's "Puppy Mill" problem. This legislation will require people and groups selling more than 25 dogs or less than 3 litters to be licensed, inspected, and maintain standards of care for their dogs.

Humane care of animals should be a concern for all Wisconsinites. Find out how you legislators will vote on this bill.

Thanks for posting about this. As someone who is very concerned about humane treatment of animals and will soon be moving to Wis. I am glad to see that this issue is being addressed.
EDIT: Just noticed that this thread is old and that apparently the bill was signed into law in Dec. Well, good to know that it all worked out.
