Default Relocation to Chetek or Wausau

I'm contemplating a relocation to Chetek or Wausau and I'd love input from people who live in the areas. I am married with a toddler so schools and safe neighborhoods are most important.

I'd love ideas on neighborhoods or areas to check out since I will be visiting soon. Please share any thoughts.

Chetek is very small compared to Wausau... Alot for fishing and winter activities, as far as school goes unsure. Do not think much trouble in Chetek.

only driven by Chetek but visited Wausau and know a few people who lived there. They really liked it. Wausau is a beautiful area and town.
I know that doesn't help....but that's all I got!

I work in Wausau but live north of there in Merrill. There are some really nice areas around the Wausau area including Schofield, Kronenwetter and Weston. From what I've seen I would perfer these areas over living in Wausau itself, but that is just me. I've heard that Wausau East is better for schools then Wausau west and I've heard a lot of raves about the DC Everest schools as well, but once again I don't live in Wausau so I can only tell you what I've heard. I have two children and as I said I live in Merrill and to be honest with you I wouldn't want it any other way. My family and I moved here a few years back from Maryland and we just love living in Merrill. The schools are great, the crime is low and it's not congested with people or traffic, it's safe and quite. What ever you choose I hope everything works out for the best for you and your family.
