Default What is it like to live in River Falls, WI?

Myself, my husband and our 4 year old son are planning to move to River Falls, WI in the summertime for my husband to continue college at UW-River Falls. We currently live in Chippewa Falls, WI. We moved from Milwaukee, WI 4 years ago and if I had known what was in store for us here, we would have never moved here. Would just like a heads up. Thank you.

I went to college there too. While it is large enough to have a small hospital and two grocery stores, there isn't much else except bars. It's a nice small town, but the University is probably the largest influence on the town as it's population is a large percentage. For work and shopping, most people go to Hudson and the Twin Cities. It's basically a bedroom community with the advantage of the university for plays and concerts. I was a non-traditional student too, so my two oldest children were born at the local hospital. It is nice but somewhat limited because of it's size.
What is it you don't like about Chippewa? I always thought it was a nice town. Do you just not like small towns? If you don't like it there, I can't see you liking River Falls much better. Except that it is close enough to St. Paul to be able to go there for all the big metro amenities.

Was just in River Falls last saturday and it's what 7-10 miles from hudson and then a straight shot from 94 to woodbury, st paul, minneapolis. I guess as someone that knows the twin cities area and the milwaukee area. I would compare it to Oconomowoc as far as how far out and just in general. It's just off 94 but it's still suburbia. If u want diverrsity or more opportunities for things to do. There's plenty of nice places on the east side of st paul im assuming u wouldnt want to go any further as it would be a decent commute
