Default Guns

Another wonderful question.
What are the rules about guns?
Does Wisconsin have concealed weapon permit?
And whatever else any of you can think of.

Not sure what the laws are about guns here... but recently there was a lot of talk about passing a law that would let people shoot any cat they saw loose as long as it didn't have a collar on (or something along those lines). People said stray cats were killing birds or something... Don't know for sure if it passed or not but it would be worth finding out if you're going to live here... or just don't let your cats outside!!

Shoot cats because they kill birds?
What about hunters who kill birds?
Or predatory birds that kill other birds?
What about dogs who kill cats?
What is next!!!
Thank for the info....

Living on a farm in Wisconsin, stray cats are really becoming a big problem. There must be eight or ten strays roaming around here. Most of them are ok except once in a while, a mean one comes and beats up all my barn cats. That might not be a bad law.

Wisconsin does NOT have a concealed carry law, although it has been tried a couple of times. If we get a Republican governor in the next election, IMHO, a new concealed carry law will pass. It really isn't that onerous. There will be strict guidelines to get a permit AND, the bad guys are already carrying.

The whole thing about killing stray cats came up as a "proposal" to control a problem. People are not informed or really care enough about a very real problem. There are too many stray/feral cats. They kill more than what they eat. They kill for killings sake. They have a HUGE negative impact on songbirds, gamebirds and small game animals. Too many people let their "house pet" cat out and have no idea how much they are killing needlessly. They are also exposing their cat to many diseases and dangers.

I agree that letting folks shoot any stray cat is extreme but something needs to done here in Wisconsin and nationwide. Shooting them is not going to happen but it's time for people to wake up especially cat owners and do something about their precious pets.

This is ridiculous.
Hunters go out and kill for the joy of killing.
Not because they need to do so for survival.
But so far I have not seen anybody proposing to shoot hunters.
Leave the cats alone.
The birds are always going to be around.
Cats have always been victimised (excuse the spelling).
Killed for one reason or another.
People just do not like cats.
Do not use the birds as an excuse for killing the cats.
Killing the cats for that reason or any reason makes you such a **********...

Hear, hear! Cats always get a bad rap. It's people who are at fault. Spay/neuter your pets. Don't let them run the streets.
