Default Fort McCoy area?

Hi. I am looking for information on the Fort McCoy, Sparta, Tomah areas. Does anyone have any good info on these towns? I know they aren't big but we are moving out there soon and I would like to be prepared. Are people laid back and friendly or stuck up snobs or just keep to themselves? How is the cost of living in these areas?

I don't mean to call anyone a snob so please don't take offense. Just curious about the area is all.

I know alot about those areas, If I had to choose between living in Tomah or Sparta, I would definately choose Tomah. I think the people are very nice and friendly. I think the cost of real estate is really climbing in those areas, but thats a good thing, I think the main difference about the two towns is that Sparta people tend to have lived there all their lives and the Tomah people are a bigger mixture of Military so they have more new people coming and going every couple of years. If your looking for a safe friendly town, I would have to say Tomah is the place.

I don't think u could go wrong with either of them........!!! Do u like to ride bicycles, that area is huge on Rails-To-Trails.......converted their old railroad beds to bike trails. Sparta-Elroy is one of the largest ones in WI, very popular runs right thru Sparta. I think they are both very cute towns! At least they were the last time I was there.......LOL.

I may be moving to Wisconsin to work at Ft. McCoy. How difficult is the winter driving? Would driving from La Crosse to Ft McCoy in the winter be too hazardous with snow and ice?

Where are you moving from? Winter driving just takes a little practice, slow down and be light on the pedals and steering wheel. Main highways are kept pretty clear.
