Default Comments on La Fargue, Wisconsin

Can anyone tell me what the village of La Fargue, Wisconsin is like? I found some really affordable houses there and was researching the area.

Thanks.

The village of La Farge is very small, with most residents either life-long or transplants that have arrived with the growth of Organic Valley, one of the areas largest employers. It is a pretty area and has some good canoe/kayak opportunities on the Kickapoo river. One consideration is that it's a long way to any where else. Closest city of any real size is La Crosse and that's at least an hour drive. So dining and shopping are very limited unless you plan to drive a bit.

i love la farge! i'm not sure i could live there, but if you want rural and beautiful with tons of rec. opportunities...it is the place for you. lots of hippy-types are moving in, especially to viroqua nearby. housing is cheap (for now), and schools are OK, not great. i wouldn't mind retiring there, but again, i know the area and have some family nearby. check out viroqua though. a little less isolated.
