Russ Feingold
There are murmurings that Feingold may run for the Oval Office.

He's far too intelligent and honest to be elected president. Currently the job requires a deceitful moron. Would that it were otherwise.

I have this vision that after Feingold takes the Oath of Office, gw gets on the helicopter only to discover the President has declared him 'a threat' and gw disembarks at Gitmo.

No to Russ
Feingold is too liberal for most democrats. The Democratic party is too divided to win the '08 election, no matter who gets the nomination.

Not the "current" Russ
If it was the Russ Feingold of many years ago (when he first ran for the US Senate---back when he "knew the state of WI like the back of his hand"), then I would say yes. But the current Russ, no way. To me, his personality has taken a big downturn since he first ran for the US Senate. Now if Kohl ran, I'd definitely vote for him.

If you'd like to be learning and speaking Spanish as your first language... then by all means vote for Feingold (or Kohl)... as they both voted in favor of illegal immigrant "amnesty". Out of touch with reality.

Feingold Not Good For Military or The United States
I am currently an Intelligence soldier from Wisconsin serving in the Middle East. Feingold's continuous calls for troop withdrawals before Iraq is a stable country is an uninformed request. An early withdrawal would create a haven for terrorists. His attempts to set a timetable for a withdrawal would cause insurgents to mind their time until we pulled out. Then all hell would break loose in the country. The world would also think that the United States has no backbone. When the fighting got tough we would just quit. This is not the image that we want to convey to the international community as well as terrorist organizations worldwide. This would leave us vulnerable for future aggressions. All he is doing now is what he thinks will win him votes, not what is best for the country!! If this is his thinking now what would he do if he were the president?

Feingold not Presidential Quality
First, I admire the intelligence soldier's being in harm's way, defending us, our way of life and representing our current President, who has more backbone, to make up for any other shortcomings the "drive-by" media and its otherwise ill-informed readers/viewers ascribe to him, than any of these same folks have.
Second, he says it correctly. The terrorists have said, acknowledged, affirmed that their goal is to KILL us and our way of life. One does NOT negotiate or even recognize them as a viable life form with that as their goal.
Third, while I would submit to the suggestion that Mr. Feingold may be knowledgeable, his processing of that information does not suggest intelligence as one contributor ascribes to him. I can prove this by the positions and types of communications I have received from him/his staff of writers.
Finally, besides his ill-conceived positions on the conflict with/in Iraq, he harbors the notion that a partial-birth abortion is NOT killing or taking a life. Yet, he, like so very many liberals, is opposed to the death penalty. This defies logic and common sense. How can one mitigate the taking of a life that hasn't had one second of a chance to prove itself worthy of its first breath with the sparing of a life which in most cases has taken (an)other(s) out of no more than an act of selfishness, anger, rage, revenge?
Ask yourself. What would Russell do if we were so ruthlessly and savagely attacked again by a cadre of thugs, calling themselves Al-Quaida, Hezbollah, Hamas, PLO, MBO, or whatever? Appease? Negotiate? Give up YOUR way of life - including YOUR freedom of SPEECH???
