If you're referring to the trip to Chicago every year and the gifts, no, those weren't advertised.

Basically all that was advertised was that I'd be based out of our client's worldwide headquarters and that their benefits and salary were "competitive". They did tell me that parking would be included since the job is based in a downtown CBD (where you pay a premium for parking), so that alone nets me about $1000 extra per year. The telecommuting privileges came over time, especially after I started doing some travelling for the company. I need to be able to remote into the network when I'm working in the field. The annual bonuses have been a surprise, for the most part, particularly since they seem to go up each year.

Without doing a Chi-square, it seems that job satisfaction correlates with income. Not surprising.

3 weeks ago: Moderately Unsatisfied ($34.5k with potential of up to $16k/yr in quarterly bonuses, which we maxed out every quarter I have been there until 1Q2009. Since then we havent even sniffed a bonus)

Now: So freaking damn excited and satisfied I cant sleep.
Same company.
Technically in a transitional position but basically amounts to 6 months from now: $50k/yr and guaranteed bonuses through profit sharing (uncapped). So realistically $10k-$60k/yr in bonuses. Pretty good insurance, paid cell phone, laptop.

Been at the same company for 4.5yrs. Got the job 9 months after I graduated from college. Was getting very restless the past year. But wouldnt dare try anything stupid in this economy. Well...my patience paid off.

Moderately unsatisfied $25,000 - $49,999/year.

I work in a dying industry, no room for advancement, many job functions are being outsourced to India and the Philippines, with more layoffs by the end of the year. My department is "safe" from job cuts for now since we support the Sales function. Too much micro-managing for my liking (I'm surprised I don't have to let my boss know when I'm going to the restroom but I won't be surprised if that changes ).

On the plus side: Benefits are good (though the employee co-pays for medical benefits will go up due in part to the new healthcare law), close to home (15 minute drive), great co-workers and management likes us to have fun every once in a while, i.e., we have special lunches/potlucks when it's someone's birthday or landmark anniversary with the company (5th, 10th, etc.).

Hanging in there until I find something else, which I may have.

Very satisfied. I work mainly to achieve and contribute, so money is secondary.

I'm satisfied with the walking distance, salary and pay schedule and the number of sexy women I see on a daily. No complaints here-lol

Very satisfied. Income this year will be right around $200K. Note that money isn't everything for me. Earlier this year, I was very unhappy in the role that I was in, primarily due to the new management that took over my team. Luckily for me, I was able to make a transition to another team in the same company and location (lateral move - no change in salary or pay grade) in that role that I love and with a manager that I deeply trust.

That's probably one of the few reasons I stick around in my job despite all the rants here. 2 to 1 ratio of women to men, several European hotties. I've even forgiven the supervisor who got me in trouble with upper management for my lateness issues because, well, she's still easy on the eyes.

What's the "dying industry"?
