Based on my experience; it's advantageous to be tall. I guess it's a human nature to be more confident when you look down on your peers.

I know people have different opinions and I fully respect each one of you as long as you support you ideas with your opinions and experiences. Or you can be an a** and I will happily play along.

Thanks,

IMO, it falls along gender lines. If you are a tall woman, you can lose a job because of a hiring manager with a napoleon complex. You learn to wear flats to interviews and meetings, but its not always enough.

I'm a male who is 5 foot 4 and 24 years old and I find that sometimes people don't take me as seriously as I would like, but I tend to be easy going and laid back so perhaps that's why other people act that way.

When it comes to work, I don't think so. I'm 5' 7" and I'm doing fine. In fact, my boss is trying to get me promoted.

NBA, NFL, defunct AVP - Yes. Most others no, with the exception of fan blade cleaner and lightbulb changer.

Seriously, in a professional workplace, I don't even notice.

Unfortunately for short people, there is a height bias. Tall people are taken more seriously - it's not fair but it's how it is.

What happens though is a tiny woman or man with a squeaky mouse voice will often work harder and be deligent about proving her or himself in the workplace and excel anyhow.

I'm 6'3, and everyone tells me that tall people supposedly make more money, and actually have higher IQs than average. I've looked into both claims, and have heard evidence to that effect, but I'm really not sure.

I think it all depends on what caused someone to be short. A lot of people are short because of poor nutrition and chronic illness. You see that in third world countries and you can see immigrant groups where the grandparents are 5 foot or 4'9" and the next generation is 5'5" but the grandchildren are reaching 6'. If the body didn't reach it's full size, the brain could have suffered also.

But some people are genetically short and were always well nourished and healthy - they get added in with the malnourished short when it comes to statistics.

Default Does a height matter in a work force???

Height, among other physical dimensions, determines whether you can enter the US military.

This is certainly true. I am a 5'10" female and it seems every boss I've had has been shorter than me. Last boss was 5'5" who loved to bellow and actually told me once I was too tall - in full hearing of another male manager who was 6'2". This manager was totally shocked. lol

Yeah, the little guys with Napoleon complexes are pretty common. I saved his butt more than once, but he was too insecure to give credit where credit was due.

That said, it is an advantage for the most part to be tall, imo. You are noticed, appear more powerful and are often given more credit than you deserve and forgiven more, as well. I've always considered my height an advantage.
