You should be annoyed but people have become insensitive and not all that concerned about others in these times. Makes you wonder how things will be going in another decade. Do wish for you a quick recovery and that all will be found okey.

That person is quite insensitive to your needs. So what if that person goes on vacation. I hope all goes well in your surgery.

When I was adopting my second child, I gave my boss notice (several MONTHS in advance) that when the time came, I would be taking my legally-permitted 12 weeks of FMLA leave. He just said, "Well, I guess we can spare you for a week." Yes, this annoyed me. Of course, I knew that I had the law on my side, and I was prepared to go through the hassle of battling him on this. But thankfully, I was soon transferred to another department, and my new boss had no issue whatsoever with me taking the time off.

So yes, some people can be highly insensitive. Know your rights, and know when to claim them. May your surgery go well and may you recover quickly and fully.
