I thought the same thing. Maybe he honestly didn't think you were right for the position or the company and that's why you didn't get the job but he did find you attractive and someone he'd like to get to know better. If he's not your type just say no thank you. Why does everything in this country always seem to result in a lawsuit? Why is everyone so damn sue-happy? Good grief - can't people even ask each other on dates anymore? Sure, it may have been tacky, but perhaps he truly liked her and thought it may be a relationship that could go somewhere.

I would professionally decline and let him know that you want to work for the company and you would never date someone at work-who knows he may be able to get you hired-

I did decline, and he did ask if there was anything he could do to help me with my job search. I said I'd appreciate it if he could keep me in mind for any openings he might hear about.

The point I was trying to make was that lots of people could be considered "borderline" and "ripe to happen" a lot of things.... but don't do whatever it is people think they would...
this guy could of asked OP on a date because he simply liked her and I'm surprised that many people on this forum appear to want to have him reported to HR and worse.... because he MIGHT sexually harass...

I can't believe you took the time out to even post this silly topic. You shouldn't have even given this guy the time of day let alone dignified him with a response. He's going to not hire you for a job that you might have been qualified for and then ask you out What a loser! In fact if anything you should tell him that. And move on! If those are the kind of people working at that company why would you want to work there.
