That's what I thought. I personally know of a handful of people that have been terminated and they all received some sort of termination letter. That is why I asked.
Some of them were sent letters to sign and return to the company, others were asked to sign on premises.
They didn't ask me to sign anything they just handed it to me with some alternate medical insurance options and a swift kick in the rear. Severance lol, yea right.
I received a letter from the school district I worked for-it was sent both registered mail and by certified mail. Mine may have been done like that since I was under a Civil Service Law 73 for health reasons I was let go.
What's up with companies wanting you to sign things after you've been let go?
I had this happen to me twice and refused to sign it both times. Does this help them in denying you unemployment or something like that?
Providing they are not giving you a severance or anything why would you sign anything for them or do anything for them for that matter after they have fired you?
be a mandated operation having nothing to do with UI benefits or eligibility. i called NY state once to inquire and i was told no one can make you sign waiving your rights to applying for UI
it may be an official confirmation of separation from employment, that you indeed separated from employment either by firing or quit
