Most sales jobs are home based now, so you do all of your paperwork, prospecting and follow up calls from home. Some sales jobs you can work 100% out of your house and others expect you to be out on the road 80% of the time.

Also, I made sure that I trained my kids from the time they were born that if the door to dad's office is closed do not knock on the door unless a trip to the emergency room is needed or the house is on fire.

Toughest part is the commute, more than once I went into my office after breakfast to check on an email or two and then realize at noon that I am still wearing my pajamas. Really had to focus on getting ready for work like I have to drive to my office, then just walk down the hall and start to work. You also realize from working at home that most 8 hour work days can be accomplished in 5-6 hours. Without co-workers coming in to chit chat, having staff meetings, etc... you can easily shave off a couple of hours of work time every day.

Yes. Somedays I spend more than 8 hours on the computer. I have 4 clients I am working for now. None is a full-time job by any means but it keeps money coming in.

Yes, eight hours per day on the computer.

I've got a VPN connection to the home office which puts me in network so I can check in/out code and manage builds, can also connect my SQL client to any of the databases and get almost anywhere on the network for accessing files etc.

They also keep a dedicated desktop computer at the office for me (also with complete development environment set up) that I can remote into for the occasional task that doesn't work well over a VPN.

The only thing that sucks is meetings, I often can't hear what people are saying depending on where they are sitting in the room.

I would love to work from home. I wish companies disclosed jobs that have this capability in their job descriptions. I would be outta this place I'm at currently in a heartbeat!
