I love it when my hubby has vacation but after a week I am ready for him to go back to work.
AMEN SISTA!!!!!!!!!
Mine was off 1/2 a day on Tuesday last week, all day Wednesday (we went to a friends 4th pool party so at least we were with a lot of other people) and all day on Thursday and did not go into the office on Friday till like around 11. YIKES!!!! Then when his buddy got home from vacation that same day and called to see if he could "come out to play" I of course said, "YES!!!!!". PAH-LEASE GO! LOL!!!

I've told my dh that the minute he walks in the door and says that he is "done" that I'll have a home-made "For Sale" sign in the front yard so fast it won't be funny. But then the house is paid for so we'd probably keep it. But if it got right down to it we would sell it and buy something about 1/2 the price but it would have to have a GIANT garage though. So seeing as that would cost even MORE than the current home we'd stay put. I think it takes being smart when it comes to making money decisions no matter how well of financially one is. Even if one is in a very comfortable situation money wise w/ no problems if they don't watch what they do and are foolish w/ it then they could very well set themselves up to not be able to afford a comfortable lifestyle if something should happen or when they are ready to retire. We both have said we don't want to work till the age our parents did. He saw his dad pass away only after being retired for about 4 years and for most of that he was in REALLY BAD health (the last year was in the hospital or home w/ hospice). So he wants to be able to afford to retire at a young age and do things he enjoys. Now when that time comes and he is home all the time I might have to go get a job out of the house or it will be NUTS around here . He can only pittle in the garage w/ his cars for so long everyday.

If my DH were offered this I would say "TAKE IT!"

For a while we were both working only part time and it really allowed us to relieve stress and have quality family time.

I agree DawnW.....my husband works from home and I love it. I don't understand why women don't want their husbands around. I enjoy every minute I spend with mine.

As far as the 50% thing goes...we could do it as we have 0 bills.....small mortgage...that's it. But we want to retire in about 7 years.....so we'll keep truckin' till then.....hubby will be 55 and I'll be 45.

I am very lucky. My dh works 45 hours a week but I work for myself so I could realistically work only 3 days a week. Guilt takes over and I do go into the office 5 days.
Dh and I worked together in our business for 14 years. Honestly looking back, it was wonderful. We always had lunch together, it gave our boys a great foundation that they saw team work at home a lot. If he came to me today and said he would like to come back, we would adjust again.
The reason why he went to a regular job was mainly for a regular salary and healthcare. We also had moved into a bigger house so our mortgage was bigger.

But we could cut back, sell some properties, be mortgage free and it would be ok again

I know how to live on a shoestring and thank my poverty days growing up for that! My only debt is my school loan. When I work full time can make alot of money, but who wants to work full time? At present am down to 1/2 time, make plenty to cover expenses and have gone back to school. So that when and if I decide to go back full time I will be the boss. Will never again work under anyone.

It made me think about working and money. I am paid about twice what my Father made in the 1950 and 1960s adjusted to inflation. Some how he survived and brought us up OK. If I only worked part time I could do so much that I do not have time for today. Maybe I could cut my expenses and scale down my lifestyle. Working only 3 days a week seems great, but the money?

How about you? part time?
Dingler,
I sort of did that. I worked a 76 hour pay schedule and with education from Ted Thomas on Real Estate investing I started my own business.

When I wasn't home and the phone started ringing I got married. Now, the wonderful man in my life works for me and July 2007 I quit my JOB.

I've been studying under Harv Eker, (Millionaire Mind, Enlighted Warrior Camp, Wealth & Wisdom, Life Direction and Never Work Again-I claim I was brainwashed at NWA) and Loral Langemeier (Live Out Loud, Wealth Blitz and The Big Table and her book "Cash Machiine for Life) for the past year. And, it has all paid off quite well. Recently, I attended Troy Fullwood's class on Making Millions with Mortgages and had a business meeting with Cameron Johnson author of "You Call the Shots".

I currently keep busy with creating new streams of income and I lead my team rather than work in my business. It's all a hoot. I get to be creative and enjoy what I'm doing. I do a lot of traveling and no worry about asking a boss If I can have time off.

Can't wait next months is a 7-day cruise to Mexico. We ( hubby and myself)
will be on the ship with Bob Proctor also from "The Secret".

Hope this answers your question and gives you some ideas on how you too can live a happier freer life. I'd be happy to introduce you to these programs if you too want a millionaire education.

I took the summer off from working (quit my long term job in May) and will start work at a new job this week. I was able to afford it because the house is paid off, I have no credit card debt, very little other debt and I live pretty simply. What I learned, however, during this summer of leisure is that I like working better. I like the structure, the challenge, the sense of purpose, the constant source of income, the benefits, the profit sharing, the dressing up, the interaction with others.

Wow! Congrats! I am actually envious of your accomplishments. Some years ago, I paid a lot of money for books, worksheets and audio tapes to learn from Dave Del Dotto, Tom Vu and Carleton Sheets. I even attended their classes, but I never made any money. They, on the other hand, made money -- from me for sure.

David,

I understand but if you give up now, you quit. Get the right training. There are so many good life coaches available now. And, if you feel money is an issue go see what you can find free at your local library.

Or, go hang out at a bookstore and read and read and read.

I would do it in a heartbeat. Especially if I could just come in 2 days one week, 3 days the next. Or even work off-hours with my shortened work day, if I had to come in 5 days a week.

That would be awesome. I'd move to a cheaper, nicer, more fun community (that is too much of a commute w/traffic for a 5-8's workweek), surf every day I wasn't working, or dawn patrol every day before work on my shortened hours. I'd relax with a book and save cash by taking the train in on work days, since I wouldn't be so pressed for time anymore. I'd be able to spend more time with my wife working on our home business making it more profitable, heck we could probably even make up the money if we thought we needed it.

We'd become resident spooks at our favorite coffeeshop, do things the cheap way during off-hours, off-days, or off-season rather than paying top-dollar and always fighting the crowds with the rest of the rat-racers.

I love my job. I think it's important, and I wouldn't do any other job in the world, no matter what the pay or the hours, but I would give my left nut to be able to do it a little less and have that extra flexibility.
