You know, a little tweek here, a little add-on there...
Anybody here have any ideas or help on what you can get away with? You know, stuff that looks great on a resume and that's not easily checked. I know more than a few here have done/or have thought about doing that.
Sound off.
before I got into poker I had a resume that was literally made up from top to bottom. Got a ton of interviews, most checked my job history and just never called me back, but I got a few jobs.
Worth it if you have a poor resume and would otherwise be flipping burgers. You do what you gotta do to survive.
You can certainly tweek a resume and make your experience seem a little more than it is, that is the whole point of a resume to boast about your accolades in the best prose possible...
The job application is what you don't want to fake.

No creating a fake resume is stupid. I have fake applied to companies to see if my resume was tight enough but defintely never faked a resume.
That's a great way NOT to get a job. DH's company will pass on someone for even one little lie...it's not that hard to check, and they do check. Not only through background checks and official channels but once you get known within your industry it's more difficult to pull the wool over eyes. Even if you fudge some stuff and get by with it, it could come up later and bite you.
The Donald agrees:

Here's some simple business advice. Don't lie. Figure out a way to tell the truth and still make yourself look good. If you can't do that, maybe you ought to consider another line of work. Donald Trump

Reason: typo
Everything on my resume is right on and even then you have to be careful not to go overboard with your experience.
I went to an interview last month that was a disaster because one of the guys interviewing started digging in my resume and questioned me about stuff that was on there, but they were things I had not done in years and I froze up.
Point being that your resume should be 100% true and should reflect what you are PROFICIENT at doing.

Those types of checks are now very, very expensive and are usually only done for a 6 figure person.
Most HR department's try and do a 20th century verification by calling your previous employers, that is if they still exist.
