Default Background Check For College (No Degree)

Only went to college for a year and that was back in the mid 70's. I called the college and the records the college has of me is in their archives in a storage area. Because I didn't get a Degree, I wasn't in their computer system. So, if a person applies for a position that doesn't require a college degree, will an agency or company do Background Check to verify college attendance? The company my wife works for had a verification done on her college education, but she has an AA and a Bachelor's from them. I do have my college education, even for the one year, on my resume. However, I don't have a date I went for the obvious reason of age discrimination.

I've only ever been asked for "official college transcripts," and that was for jobs that required a certain degree. So you could just offer to provide those, if and when you're afraid they will check... of course that will reveal your age, but this would happen either way.

I really doubt it, but it can't hurt for you to get a copy of your transcript in case any future employee needs it. I can't imagine it costing more than $20, maybe as low as $5.

Well, at age 61 now, I've never, ever had an employer ask me for a transcript from college before. But, then again, I don't apply for any job that asks for a college degree!
