Its dish washing at a chain resteraunt. Not glamorus but its something.I also might get a job as a collections agent, gotta wait till my background check comes back.
Congratulations! I got a job in a school cafeteria, and all we ladies have to take our weekly turn in the dish room. It's no big deal (gotta look for discarded chewing gum on the trays), just rinse and put them through the mammoth dishwasher. No ringing phones, computers, deadlines, or demanding bosses in your face. And, believe it or not, it pays better than skilled computer-savy clerical jobs I applied for! (What's wrong with THAT picture?)

Is there something wrong with that picture? It seems that the hardest jobs in our society almost always have low pay, while cushy office jobs are paid a mint by comparison. I don't really see anything wrong with turning that around and paying a dishwasher more for standing on their feet all day handling heavy dishes, boiling water, and half masticated food, than someone who sits around and exercises a few finger muscles!
Anyways, congrats OP on the new job. Hope its the start of many good things to come.
congrats, if you been laid off for a while im sure it feels good just to get something. i get the argument about why take less than unemployment will pay, usually this isnt the case even though people say so but even if it is after a while you just kinda start feeling lazy and worthless not working so its good to get out there. i think it does something for your attitude and that will help you find a better job. congrats and good luck.

These days it seems like there are 10x bust your butt 10/hr jobs compared to the lazy butt office jobs. As a result, everyone is flocking to the office jobs and the salaries are getting bid down. College grads are taking jobs that only pay 10-12$/hr simply because there are no good paying jobs. Hell with this unemployment, you can find anyone to work for basically any wage. Programmer, accoutnant, engineer you give me enough time I will find you a quality person to do the job for 12$/hr.
