Any working stiffs have jobs that are paying out lots of overtime because either a) they don't want to hire people or b) they can't hire/train enough people, so those currently working at said company are working like crazy?

Also I hate to say it, but I'm starting to get a little addicted to the overtime pay, but I'm never home. My philosophy is "take it while you can get it" but it seems every month is the same, working 40 or more hours of overtime. But it's really hard to not pick it up when it seems doom is just around the corner. I know I'm probably aging really quickly, and I need to have work/life balance. Anyone deal with the same issues?

Ya, but with no pay for overtime.

"Life is too short for unpaid overtime."

I agree I wouldn't work unpaid overtime, here overtime is 150% pay when you work on a day off. Adding the company 8% match to that, and you are talking some decent money, really hard to pass up for someone like me in their late 20's.

Although taxes are starting to kill it, it's getting pretty ridiculous.

Unless of course, your boss asked you to.

Well they can't, it's in my contract. It's spelled out in black and white, overtime is 150%.

What if the job doesn't get done because you don't work the [unpaid] OT?

Not my problem!! "A lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine"...or something like that.

I think you are misunderstanding, either you work the overtime and get paid 150% or don't work it and don't get paid. K-I-S-S

That is not his problem. A union contract is a union contract.

Anyway the intent of my OP is to see if any other companies/industries are experiencing growth, it seems they are. Lots more hiring going on these days, I think you are going to see the economy start to really gear up soon.

+1,000 if I could. You just made my night. That is one of my favorite sayings.

Sometimes I alter it: "A lack of planning on your part means rush fees and a higher rate on mine."
