I know several SAHM's and Working Moms who have built online businesses that more than replaced their income. The key is do you want to "work at home" or build a business that you can run in the long term?
A lot of the "work at home" businesses out there are all about selling products through websites and home parties. They require a lot of money up front and if you don't have the time, experience or resources to make the sales then you won't be successful. The competition is fierce and you do a ton of work just to make ends meet. Others allow you to build a business from the ground up, with tons of support from others who want to see you succeed. You can find some companies that offer good pay for very little physical work, which means you can work around your schedule whether you have a busy family life or other jobs.
I've had experience with both, as well as nearly a decade in corporate America, so I've started blogging to help others who are attempting to start working from home using the internet as their main communication tool. You can visit it on

It is really about finding what is best for you. Some people do better with the face-to-face sales and have fun with parties, others prefer to build customers through referrals that help them improve their lives, others write articles or take surveys to earn cash. Just ask around and do the research before investing any money up front. And remember that building a business does require some investment.
