If anyone can suggest what my next move should be....let me know.
I have spent every penny I had just trying to survive over the past 2 years. Too much education and experience...the lower paying jobs won't even consider hiring me. The jobs I should be going after won't interview me.
Behind 3 months on rent, will be losing internet connection in Feb. No family or friends to help. Networking does not work.
Food no problem...food stamps. Unemployment ($129.00 a week) ran out from a temp job I got a year ago.
When I pose this situation to organizations that are suppose to help people (Goodwill, United Way etc,) the only thing they want to suggest to me is to find a homeless shelter. Forget about helping me find a job, thats too much work for them, much easier to give me the address of a shelter.
I have a Bachelors from one of the largest universities in the country and now I'm down to looking at shelters.
I MUST BE MISSING SOMETHING. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE????
What is your degree in? Why did you pick that degree?
What is your basic work experience and skills?
Have you considered relocating?
Have you considered military officer candidate school?
Where did you get your degree? Sounds like Arizona State? What is your degree in? What is your profession? How many years of experience? In what areas is your main expertise?
A little more information might help us with any advice her can offer.
How old are you? Have you condsidered joinging the military as someone as posted? Has to be better than being homeless and since you don't have family may be the way to go.

IS THIS FOR REAL???
Unfortunatly yes it's for real. I'm in a similar situation. I'm a 60 year old 99er and have applied to everything I'm qualified to do including those "get any job at the fast food/retail jobs" and nothing. I even took a phlebotomy course and got certified...still no job, even though there are jobs out there - I only go a few interviews. I'm facing homelessness myself and other than food stamps there is nothing. So I'll be living in the cab of my 16 year old pick-up truck soon in the middle of winter.. There are waiting lists for womans shelters and even then you have to have kids or be a battered wife.
In that thread, I posted a link of some resources that are available which may, or may not help you - but will definitely provide you with a map in the right direction. You do not have to wait to send a company a resume if you can verify the name of someone in a department you would be qualified to work for and send it directly. It's time to be creative.
Yes it is. Please check out a great site I have been using manager-tools dot com.
I have been studying resumes and buss words. From what I understand is resumes go through a computer process and the computer picks out certain words from resumes, preset words.
I will be happy to review your resumes and help if I can with that.
I wish you all the best and know things will turn around. Its hard to be positive with so many negatives but please portray a positive attitude that will help.

Suggestion:
Start a blog
Put your resume and your college info on it
get that blog out there and let everyone see it
(positive) write down your struggles
think outside the box
You are determined you are educated. I will pray for you and I am confident you will get through this.

I know why, this person is asking for assistance. Have you ever struggled? Do you feel for people who are asking for assistance? Look how many doors has closed for this person. If you have nothing nice to offer...

Whoa! I provided a link twice with some assistance so slow down there on the attitude. The other thread places Blame on his family and friends. So, there might be some attitude issues (which others have even noticed) that may be overriding the resume and education. Who knows. But I have provided positive suggestions...twice now. Take the time to open the link in either of his threads before you attack ME!
