I know someone who knows someone in the porn industry in L.A. It's no different than the rest of the entertainment industry, where you think you'll make lots of money and have a great time, but reality is you'll be poor and addicted to crystal meth.

I read recently that business is down in the porn industry, at least as far as video goes. There's so much free porn available on the internet that people don't want to pay for it.
From the behind the scenes specials I have watched on the subject it basically boils down to a couple of things. You can run your own website if you are a really hot female and charge people something like 30 bucks a month and make money that way. You can move to LA area and try to break in like that, but you still must be really hot. You can dance in clubs anywhere in the US, but that kind of work is generally degrading.
Check the websites. Most websites have a "hiring models" link somewhere on the banner on the top or side. The one website I read said they will give you like 7,000 for a weekend shoot, but that would be complete XXX, including having sex with a couple of guys and the money shot all over the place.
If you are a guy forget about it unless you, live in LA, can get an erection on command, are extremely built (six pack) and hairless, and have an above average sized member. Obviously you have to be disease free.
Either way unless you are the world's biggest exhibitionist, or just really love having sex on camera, expect to be completely taken advantage of and eventually becoming addicted to drugs. I wish you nothing but the best however!
I know 2 people who had/have jobs in the industry. One was an editor/webmaster/writer for a well known site. The other owns her own phone sex business and employs about 50 people. Even though they are in the 'industry' they get to keep their clothes on and just go to work every day like the rest of us.

The problem is that while it pays very well, it also takes up a lot of time and is more than a full time job. A lot of these people are will to pay big bucks to get on the web and when they make money, you make money.

alot of money to be made? HAHAHAHAHAHA. Have you seen what the recent trend is in porn? Its porn tube site, like youtube. They give all their content away for free and they rely 100% on advertising revenue. No one buys porn these days, unless they're retarded or something.
Back in the day porn companies would make money from selling magazines, VHS and more recently DVDs/blu ray. Now all of those products can be obtained for free online. If I were in the porn industry I would be sweating. Here is a documentary on the subject. Consumption of porn is on the rise (since its free now) but profits are in terminal decline. Honestly, I don't know how these porn companies even make any money.
