Kewgee, my feeling ran from...let's see what's not to understand... to Oh my gosh, that's unreal!
I used to deal with two tech reps, one from VietNam, who had been in the country for 10 years and spoke pretty good english. The second gentleman was from Japan, and he had been in the US for TWENTY years. His english was horrible. I would have to leave him a message, and he would return my call with a message, and all I (or anyone in my department) could understand was my NAME at the beginning of his message! In my entire life, I had never had this problem. All other times, I was called in to decipher some unintelligible message from a caller for my co-workers! He was a great guy, and brilliant - but for some reason, his english speaking skills weren't quite up to par.
I used to get a co-worker that was a golf buddy with him to listen and translate messages for me. Is there someone who can understand "Larry" that can help you out and be your "translator" or are they all as baffled as you are?
Hi everyone- I was away for a while. I just read your responses. Funny stuff! I feel kind of guilty but I hope Larry isnt a member on CityData- now THAT would be embarrassing!
The sad thing is, English IS his first language, and as far as I know, he doesn't have any other problems. I've had a few meetings with him in person and he really does talk like that. He's a bit of a comedian too. Nice guy but just not really a great communicator.
