$38k , 10 years, Masters, hmmm, in this economy, a 99er might take it. Nothing would shock me.

By year end 2011, they will number 4-5 million. Even if only 1/8 have degrees (1/2 US rate), that would be 500-625,000. With NO income.

You should. If people don't see your story and finally realize what is going on in the world these days, they will never get it. Good luck to you.

It can't hurt. I am sure the agency is crying with a loaf under each arm when it comes to what they are skimming off the top of what you are earning for them.

Last summer my DH took a contract job at a lower rate because it was "contract to hire". About a month after starting, the company reorganized, he was reporting to someone else, and the "to hire" part was up in the air.

He got this job through someone he knows who is a recruiter. DH knew the whole situation - there were 3 companies taking their skim off the top - yep, 3 middle men.

They kept stringing him along and as the contract came to an end and it looked like there would be no "to hire" but they discussed renewing the contract, he told them there was no way at that rate - he KNEW what what the original company was paying and how much everyone in between was getting.

Needless to say, they did not renew the contract and it was the BEST thing that ever happened. He now has a regular full time job with a company he loves and he doesn't have the horrible commute - he's minutes from the house.

jeepgirl - without a doubt - ask for the raise or start looking for something else! You never know what's out there.

BTW - I don't live to far from where you work!
